What is a comprehensive assessment?

A comprehensive assessment is one of the services available with Dr. Brosius. The integrated mental health practice is a full-service mental health practice that offers testing and therapy. Her colleague, Dr. Theodosiadis, is a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, who is available for medication consultation.

Dr. Brosius is an experienced clinical psychologist and diagnostician. She conducts comprehensive neuropsychological, psychological, and educational assessments. 

Who benefits from a comprehensive assessment?

Dr. Brosius conducts comprehensive assessments for children (starting at age 5), teens, and adults. You or your child may benefit from a comprehensive assessment if you have concerns about a neurodevelopmental condition, mental health condition, or learning disability.

Dr. Brosius specializes in testing and treating conditions such as:

What happens during a comprehensive assessment?

Dr. Brosius customizes each patient's comprehensive assessment based on their individual needs and concerns and referral questions. The assessment may include:

• Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V)
• Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV)
• Wechsler Preschool and Primary Intelligence Scale (WPPSI-IV)
• The Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA®) 
• Wide Range Assessment of Memory and Learning, Third Edition (WRAML-3)
• California Verbal Learning Test-3
• Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System™ (D-KEFS™)
• Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST)
• Rey Complex Figure Test (Rey CFT)
• Academic Testing (WIAT, WJ-IV, KTEA-3)
• Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule -2
• Personality and emotional tests
• Parent and teacher rating scales

For autism, a comprehensive assessment by Dr. Brosius may also include such testing as Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale 2 (ADOS-2), Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS), the Autism Spectrum Rating Scales (ASRS), and the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale. 

Dr. Brosius may add other subtests as needed, including observations at school and participation in school meetings, with consent of the patient.

The integrated mental health practice also offers simple diagnostic assessments for concerns about ADHD. Neuropsychological tests aren’t included in the simple assessment. 

Additionally, the practice performs intelligence quotient (IQ) testing for private school admission, Advanced Placement (AP), and MENSA qualification. 

What happens after a comprehensive assessment?

After she completes the comprehensive assessment, approximately 2-3 weeks later, Dr. Brosius provides feedback and writes a formal report. She makes specific recommendations based on the findings from the assessment, which may include medication and therapy.
